Hunt Phelan

Description: Have your wedding at Memphis' oldest and most historic home. Built in 1823, this majestic 10,000 sq. ft. mansion sits on 61/2 acres on the famous Beale Street in downtown Memphis,TN. During the Civil War General Grant took over the estate as his headquarters. Battles were plotted in the library, soldiers tents were pitched on the front lawn, and a hospital was formed for the soldiers that were injured in fighting the war. Architect Robert Mills designed this Greek Revival Federal Style home. Mr. Mills can take credit for designing The Washington Monument, our Federal Buildings and additions to The White House.
